Design and Dimensions
The sexy spades is a glass butt plug with an acorn tip and a flared base with the following dimensions:
Length: 3 ¼”; Insertable length: 2 ¾” Circumference: 4 ¾” Diameter: 1 ½” and a neck diameter of 7/8. It weights approximately 4.7 oz.(1)

Material: Cleaning and Safety Concerns
Glass is an excellent material for a butt plug from a safety stand point. To start it is non-porous, phthalate free and hypoallergenic. It also doesn’t retain orders or flavors, a must for an anal toy. It is compatible with all lubricants so you don’t have to worry about the toy being compatible with whatever lube you’re using. As you can imagine glass is a long lasting material if you take proper care of your toy it should be around for years of ass filling pleasure.
The main safety concern with glass is breakage and fracture. This toy is made of solid tempered glass so it is resistant to breaking or shattering. However, you should always inspect any glass toys upon receiving it to make sure there are no cracks, seams or any other obvious imperfections. You should obviously not use the toy if it arrives in damaged condition. The neck of the toy is relatively thick as opposed to narrower and potentially fragile so the chances of breakage during use is highly unlikely and even with hallow or narrow toys spontaneous breakage suggests shoddy manufacturing practices. If the toy seems to have internal cracks (not to be confused with air bubbles, which are perfectly normal) this can increase the chance of breakage and is also a sign of poor manufacturing practices. Also with glass toys make sure the color is on the inside of the toy, you may encounter cheaply made toys with the color painted on the outside. None of these are a problem here and shouldn’t be a problem with any reputable glass toy manufacturer. The biggest area of concern with breakage and glass toys is if you drop it. This is especially true when cleaning the toy as glass can be slippery when wet. Take extra care not to drop the toy and inspect the toy carefully before use if you do.
While full-on breakage isn’t much of a concern if you’re careful and buy from mainstream toy markers, what is more of a concern are micro-fractures in the glass that could create a “pocket” for bacterial growth or worse create a micro-abrasive surface that could damage delicate tissues. You should inspect the toy, visually and run your hand over it before and after use to check for any crakes or fractures. For this same reason, preventing micro-cracks or fractures, you should be careful when storing this toy. It should not be rolling around bumping up against anything, especially anything hard like another glass toy or metal toys. So obviously, package it up well if you are transporting it somewhere. If you decide to use this for extended wear when you’re in public, make sure you can put it somewhere appropriate if you have to take it out. Carrying around a plastic baggie with some short of padding in it is recommended for such situations.
Cleaning is extremely easy. Glass does not require any special cleaning; you can wipe this toy down with hot soapy water or any cleaning solution. If you’re going to share the toy it should be sterilized between use, this is again very easy. You can sterilize it by boiling, using a 10% bleach solution, or putting it in the top rack of your dishwasher with no soap.
Aesthetic Beauty
The thing with glass toys is that they can be so very beautiful that for me how beautiful the toy looks out of me is as important as how it feels in me. The sexy spade wins full marks from me in this regard. The toy has a clear base and neck. The acorn tip starts out in brown leading up to beautiful ribbons of blue with a few thin lines taking on a slight greenish hint where the blue and brown transition into each other. Beautiful on it own the fact that the design resembles and is marketed as a spade just sends me over the top. I have played a good bit of poker, so my mind not only enjoyed the fact that it looked like a spade, I started thinking of things like this: I wonder if I leave it out in the open could I tell people I bought it just to use as a spade like paperweight? Could I get away with claiming I didn’t know it wasn’t a paper weight? Maybe if I hit the right tone of voice I could invoke the sarcastic confession trope? And putting it out in the open is exactly what I do with it

Pleasure and Use
Glass is obviously harder and heavier than other materials; this is a plus for a butt plug, in this reviewer’s mind (or is it ass?). The hardness and lack of give means you will know it is there and that it makes its presence know nicely when you walk around with it in you. This is especially good if you like going out in to public plugged, and get off knowing you have this naughty object inside and now one can tell. At 1.5 inches in diameter, this toy is a little big for a small size butt plug. Keep in mind that hard materials tend to feel bigger then they actually are when inside you, too. However, the smoothness of glass makes it easy to insert with relatively little lube. Once inside the acorn tip is very comfortable and doesn’t feel pointy or otherwise uncomfortable. The toy isn’t noticeable under your clothes when it’s in place either; important for extended wear when in public.
There is enough of a different between the neck and the rest of the toy that I did not feel the toy might slip out or worse that the base might slide in and the toy might get lost inside me. Glass’s hardness is also good if you are concerned about these issues as you can be assured the base will not bend as it might with more flexible materials and be swallowed by your rectum. The neck is also wide enough it will give your muscles something nice and hard to wrap around when at the point of orgasm. There is a quick transition from it’s maximum width to the neck which some may not enjoy; I personally have no problem with this quick taper.
The hardness of glass has a down side, however, the round base can be uncomfortable during extended wear. I haven’t had a problem with it when using it at home for extended wear as I’m moving and frequently changing positions. However, using the toy for public play (where the circumstance may dictate how much time I spend sitting, standing etc.) can be a problem as too long in one position and the base starts to bother me. More specifically, too long in a standing position and it starts to bother my cheeks, sitting isn’t so much of a problem as long as I remember to spread cheeks as I sit. A better design might have been more of a flattened oval.
Temperature play
This toy is an excellent choice for temperature play, as glass retains temperatures very well. The sensation of a warm butt plug entering your body or the thrill of feeling cool glass entering you and slowly heating up while inside of you are both very pleasurable. Warming the plug can also make insertion easier. Although you could heat this toy by using your microwave or use your refrigerator (Do not use the freezer) to cool it down. I personally use a water bath in order to cool or heat it up. I believe this is best for safety reasons. First off, remember how we talked about micro-fractures? Remember in science class, how temperatures can make things expand and contract? Too quick a temperature change could introduce micro-fractures and reduce the structural integrity of the toy leading to breakage (keep this in mind if boiling the toy to sterilize it too). The water bath allows you to slowly and gently heat or cool the toy. In addition, it helps ensure your own safety, as it easy to control/measure the temperature of the water bath. You do not want to overheat or overcool the toy and damage sensitive body parts; especially when heating as the difference between a safe and an unsafe temperature is less for heating than it is for cooling.
Packaging
This toy comes in easy to open plastic packaging. The packaging isn’t a good choice for storing the toy again after you open it.

Who is it for?
First, off this is a hard glass toy. It is my belief toy virgins should start with something with a bit more give for their first toy, the toy is also bit big for a small so another reason pure novices should look elsewhere. The base of the toy is also not perfect for extended wear, especially if you are going to be standing for a while. If extended wear is going to be your primary use for the plug, you may want to consider a toy with a more comfortable base. Other than that, this toy is a good choice for someone in the market for a butt plug. Those who enjoy aesthetic beauty in their toys, are into spade designs or who like temperature play are encouraged to pick up this lovely little plug.
Going green?
This is also a good choice for those going green. This or any glass toy can help you get off while still being eco-conscious. First off, glass is an eco-friendly material as it is naturally occurring and recyclable. Secondly, the toy doesn’t harbor any chemicals which are harmful to the environment or your body. Thirdly, the manufacturing process is usually eco-friendly, i.e no use of heavy chemicals or solvents. Lastly, if you take care of the toy it will last you years so you are not needless using resources replacing it as you might have to with materials that aren’t as long lasting.
Cheapskate?
Considering the beauty and functionally of this toy combined with the fact that it can last a lifetime; this toy is an excellent value at around 27 dollars and is well worth your money.
Closing Thoughts
The sexy spade stole my heart on sight with its beautiful design and I was quite happy to find it is also a delight when it’s in my ass and out of sight.
