Miyakodori by Mantric

Note: I accepted this as a on-site review for Edensfantasys; You can read it there in my normal format. I however decided to have some fun and do it two ways the aforementioned normal format at Eden’s and the “lab report” format, with different wording you see here.

One thing I like to do when it comes to sex toys is experiment, to be more specific I like to experiment with toys that are traditionally designed for women, and turn them into effective male sex toys. For example, using dual stimulation vaginal/clit toys as duel stimulation anal/perineum toys, or turning a G-spotter into P-spotter. My favorite toy the Hitachi is an example of such experimentation. For my latest experiment, I decided to try a remote controlled bullet vibe, the Mantric Miyakodori⁽¹⁾. I had two theories on how this toy, mainly thought of as an external clitoral stimulator, could be used for male stimulation that I wanted to test. How did my experiments go? Read my “lab report” to find out.

Introduction

Hypothesis 1: There are vibrators that use a bullet vibe in their base as their power source, the Rascal O2 for example, unfortunately these bullet vibes are often weak and are usually only one speed. By putting this bullet in the base instead we can create a more powerful and/or multifunction vibrator.

Hypothesis 2: By placing, the vibe on the balls, penis, perineum (perhaps with a bit of adhesive tape to keep it in place), men can use this vibe and its functions much like women do.

To conduct the experiments we, in addition to the vibrator, will need one willing human subject. Ideally two subjects would have been preferred however only one was available. (Translation: I don’t have a girlfriend right now ).

Materials

Material: Plastic

Texture: Smooth

Cleaning: Plastic can be cleaned by whipping it with soap and water or scrubbing it with isopropyl alcohol. However, you cannot boil, bleach, or put this in your dishwasher; therefore, using precautions is recommended (bag it) if sharing.

Colors: This vibe is available in multiple colors; Edenfantasys currently has them in both purple and grey. (Keep in mind the color preferences of both you and your panther when purchasing this if you intend to have one of you wear it and one of you use the remote)

Design and Dimensions

This toy comes in three parts summarized in Figures 2-5

Operation

This is a multifunction bullet vibe with 6 different setting, they are in order:

1. Low
2. Medium
3. High
4. Pulsation (quick)
5. Pulsation (Patterned: 2 rapid pulses, 1 long pulse)
6. Escalation

The slider seen in Figure 2 turns toy’s control box on and off. The LED light next to it will tell you if the toy is on and will flicker in tune with the vibration pattern being used. The two switchs on the front of the toy, seen if figure 3, will cycle through the toy’s 6 different vibration settings. The bullet vibe (Figure 4) connects to a port on the side of the toy once hooked up you can use it with just the control box or have someone control it for  you using the wireless remote.

The wireless remote (Figure 5 ) has a on and off slider on its side and a single button in the center which switches the toys vibration settings. The remote’s LED, unlike the control box’s, only tells you whether the remote is on or off.

Power Source: The control box runs off of 3 AAA batteries (not included), the remote runs on one 12-volt battery included.

Results

In order to test our first hypothesis, this bullet was placed into the base of four toys normally powered by bullet vibes: The O2 Rascal, the P-spot Vibrating plug, the Delta Vibrator and the Techno vibrator all by Tantus. In all cases this bullet was an improvement over the included vibe. Firstly, this bullet proved more power on its highest setting then the bullet vibes normally do. Secondly, the pulsating and escalating setting where noticeable in all three toys, adding additional functionality to them. The testing of our first hypothesis was a rousing success.

The second hypothesis was tested in two locations in the laboratory (My bedroom) and once in the field (Walking around my university campus).

Laboratory testing: First, I tested the remote control’s range I didn’t measure the distance and I’m bad at spatial dimensional guessing, but it did turn the vibe on from across the house (the vibe was in the bedroom upstairs and I was standing outside the front door on the opposite side of the property) so it appears up to the claimed 20 foot range. Secondly, I used the vibe externally by itself and it worked well. The vibe is powerful and no more noisy then your standard bullet vibe. Lastly, I put it in my pants, and tested it out for what it was meant for. I going to have to stop here for a moment and go over some attachment procedures: for this to work for me the vibe has to press firmly up against the penis. In order to accomplish you need something to hold it in place like a bandage or tape. The tightness of your underwear will also affect how firmly this rubs against you it will also affect the intensity as the vibe will transmit the vibrations through the fabric of tighter undergarments. The results of this round of testing are that the subject (that’s me again) can reach orgasm with this although placing and keeping the vibe in the right position was difficult. Using this data, the last task was to test this toy in the field.

Field Testing: I wore this one day walking around my university and the vibrations plus the thrill of doing some like this in public was defiantly arousing. It took a while but I was also able to reach orgasm with this toy (again very naughty and arousing indeed). As I said I don’t have a “lab partner” to test this with but the possibilities for couples play are great.

Areas for future research: There are two things we could not fully test both are combination of the two hypothesis above. 1) Going out in public with a bullet-powered butt plug inside of you, (Example: The Zing) operated remotely by this vibe. The potential for pleasure here is great however this hybrid hypothesis could not be tested because the bullet powered butt plug used here (the P-spot Vibrating Plug )as stated elsewhere here can’t perform to spec (Translation: Damn thing falls out). However, this represents a very promising area of future research (Translation: I need to find a bullet powered plug that stays in and soon!) 2) A cock ring with a bullet powered vibe (example) could be used with and eliminate all the annoying positioning difficulties, another promising area of future research. (I need a vibrating cock ring and soon!)

Limitations

Our apparatus (The miyakodori) has one major limitation. There is no quick stop function on either the control box or the remote control. This isn’t a major problem if you’re just using the control box, you can just turn it off using the slider switch. However, you have to cycle through all the functions to turn the toy off using the remote control. This can be a major problem if you’re using it in public with your partner as there is no way of knowing what setting the toy is on, so you either have to mentally keep track of your button presses or somehow communicate with your partner in order to know when the toy is off. This is also made worse by the fact that there is only one button on the remote as opposed to two on the control box. Having two cycle buttons (plus the aforementioned stop button) would have made this toy perfect.

A second limitation that may be relevant to polyamorists or those who easily lose thing emerges when comparing this to the Button Toys Oyster. The rival oyster allows you to but the remote separately allowing you to replace a lost control or allow up to six remotes to control one box. I have no need for such functionality at the moment but it something to keep in mind when you go shopping. (Button toys also advertises a greater range, if 20ft seem too limited to you)

Packaging

The toy comes in a plastic container that pops open easily. Inside is the vibe and all it parts (obviously) and a generic pamphlet that talks about vibrators in general but does not say anything specific about the toy. The toy does come with the 12-volt battery for the remote, you will however have to provide the three AAA batteries needed for the control box. An interesting observation is that this is probably the only toy to have a big “As Seen On TV” thing on it, like you’re buying something from a late night infomercial, this is a reference to it being featured on Channel 4 in the UK. (Refer to Figure 6)

Conclusions

The lack of a quick stop is a major limitation however apart from that, this is a great toy with multiple uses, some of which of have yet to (but look forward to being able to) try.
