Review: The Fairy Wand

The Fairy Wand by  Media Craft Inc

When I used to think of the word “fairy” I used to think something small, delicate and weak…until I met The Fairy Wand. This thing is a big, load, earthquake producing powerhouse of a vibrator that has bumped the Hitachi down from the number two spot on my top vibrators list (the Fairy being second only to the almighty Wahl). Read ahead for more.

Materials: Cleaning and Safety Concerns

This toy is made out of plastic, which is not very porous, but since you can’t do heavy-duty sanitization/sterilization (i.e. boiling) on this toy put a condom on it if sharing. The toy can be cleaned by using a damp cloth (you can use a bit of isopropyl alcohol for more thorough cleaning). However, be careful when cleaning as the toy is NOT waterproof. Speaking of which it should be obvious but it bears repeating do not use this near water, electrocution is not sexy to say the least.

Plastic is compatible with all lubes but remember, not waterproof so only dab a bit on the tip if you wish to use some.

Design, Dimensions, and Operation

The Fairy wand is a wand style massager about the same size as the legendary Hitachi. It measures 13 inches long in total, with a flexible massaging head 2 3/8  inches in diameter, about the size of a tennis ball. The massager head is made of smooth white plastic with five ridges going down the side. The body of the toy is smooth white plastic, with very lightly textured pick in the center. The toy is operated by a dial, which has ridges on it for easier turning. To use the Fairy Wand just plug it in and turn the dial towards the cord end to turn it on and adjust the vibrations to your liking. After it clicks on, the scrolling is completely smooth. The cord is 6 feet in length and the whole thing weighs about 18 oz.

Like all wand massagers this is discreet to an extent as it is a back massaging device, despite all the lovely off label use ;) . Appearance wise the way it tapers down to the cord gives this a more sleek appearance then the Hitachi but as a guy I wish it came in a more gender neutral color then pink. Just to repeat, this toy is not waterproof so do not use near water. Also, so far the toy has been very cool during operation but it always good to be mindful of overheating when using a massager such as this, especially if you use it under a lot of cover and sheets, or for a long time.

Lastly, this fairy is part of a family of massagers consisting of this, the smaller fairy mini, the fairy minimini and the rechargeable fairy pocket. There are attachment available for the fairy wand as well. I don’t have any Hitachi attachments so I can’t know for sure but the head look to be the same size more or less so Hitachi caps will probably work with this one too, but again not sure.

Pleasure and Use

The first thing to know about this thing is that it is powerful, as powerful as the Hitachi? No, on its highest it is more powerful, much more. If you want to feel like you have a small, localized earthquake on your genitals, this is the toy for you. Even better still, the vibrations have a much more rumble-y and less surface-y feel to them. What if you don’t want a full blow earthquake? That ok too as the vibrations are adjustable via the scroll wheel in the center, which means you can turn it down to your liking. The scroll wheel can also adjust the vibrations quickly on the fly. I like this feature as I can use it to slowly build up to an orgasm ,increasing the vibration as I get closer, or I can do the opposite and turn it down as I approach  to slow stimulation and prolong the time before orgasm. Combining this with my male multiple orgasm techniques (which I’ll go over below) this can create some intense masturbation sessions.

One thing I always like to mentions when discussing wand style massager is male multiple orgasm. It is ejaculation not orgasm that has a refractory period, Orgasm is hypothalamic response that can occur without ejaculation if you explore enough. The key with vibes, for me, is placement, cockhead=non-ejaculatory, multi-orgasms; shaft=ejaculatory orgasm.(1) I use wand massagers almost exclusively for the non-ejaculatory aspect. One particularly cool trick is to combine head and shaft stimulation; either via two different means of stimulation (see this post for how to do it with two vibrators) or skillful placement of one vibrator. The fun here is seeing how many non-ejaculatory orgasm I can get off before that one big ejaculatory one. This can also be used on other body part for naughty fun as well, I can have non-ejaculatory Os using this on several other body parts: nipples, anus, even palms and finger tips! Lastly, this can be used on other body parts back, shoulder, feet for non-naughty purposes.

I bring all this up for one reason to emphasize this: Experiment. It took me a while to find what works for me with wand style massagers but the rewards were well worth it.

There is only one major flaw to this massager (the pink being a minor one for me) and it is both more powerful and unfortunately louder then the Hitachi. How loud depends on how high the vibration setting is but its certainly not a quite toy. If you need something quite and discreet stop reading now and forget about this one. (Insert person you don’t want to hear you getting off) will wonder “what are they doing in there and why does it involve power tools?”

Comparison to Other Massagers

Inevitably, this is going to be compared to other massagers in particular the legendary Hitachi. In my opinion, this definitely suppresses the Hitachi but falls short of topping the Wahl. I like this better then the Hitachi because it has more power better, vibration frequency and adjustable dial. However, the Wahl’s attachments and its pounding high vibration setting edges out the Fairy out in my rankings.

Who is it for?

I’d recommend this to almost anyone, the only ones I wouldn’t or those that just don’t like this type of toy or those that are very inexperienced or very sensitive (even its lowest is pretty strong).

Packaging

The Fairy comes in a pink box with a picture of the Wand and a graphic of a fairy on it. “Fairy” is on it in large letters along with a bunch of smaller Japanese the meaning of I do not know.

Closing Thoughts

Not much to say this fairy is a powerhouse and comes highly recommend.

  1. Another note on technique: I also prefer to use this through a thin piece of fabric, like my boxers instead of the directly on my skin. []
